There are silent parts on Cult of Luna’s album Salvation which are quite hard to hear. Many years ago, I took it upon myself to find out what they say. Here’s the transcript of the hidden lyrics as I heard it, as well as the audio with much louder volume level, and some of the background noise cleaned up.
Every other track on the album features a silent spoken section, which sound like analog radio messages. I like to think of them as journal entries, the final broadcasts of someone making his final journey of atonement after a great disaster has struck.
They woke me up, left me naked in a world that I don't recognize anymore. Who's responsible for this? The only thing worse than evil is apathy. A crime we are all guilty of, so we just walk along in silence. But now I cannot go further. - This body is a shell of me, and I am nothing but a shadow. A pale reflection in the mirror. Hypocricy has stolen the essence of me, and turned all the colors into a grey blur. I can't go back, so I'm stuck with my feet on both sides of the great line. Crossing over is not easy. - In my dreams I see you coming down spreading light, but the dreams fade and traces melt. I am lost again. Am I alone? - You are the light, The hope that I lay my trust upon. I can no longer carry the shame - It will stain to an extent that I never thought was possible. With my sacrifice, I wish to start the end of this. Meet me halfway and take my place. Deliver me from guilt, Grant me salvation.
